ceramic 1 inch squares as legs for base rock

I have 3 very large(20, 25 lbs each) pieces of base rock I want to lift above the sand bed. I saw Paul B's pvc and cement work. I saw egggrate/pvs legs etc. All good ideas but long on labor !
Anyway I thought I could stack the squares for legs . I could stack as many to level out these base pieces. I could cut a tile into squares or better, get a tile buddy to do it for me . I also read where some use the tile made up if 1 inch square with mesh glued to the back. I understand some peel off the mesh and boil off the glue. What do You think? Thanks !

I would use a hydraulic cement to glue the ceramic. I think mastic would work. I have a product called stone fix that I use

I got differing answers on cure times. I think I will stck to silicone 24 hrs ,ready to go
