Ceramic bio spheres elevating nitrates

Are marine pure ceramic bio spheres nitrate factories like bio balls? what do you guys think?

I have the marine pure block. After about a mouth of have it in my sump I have noticed my nitrates have gone down to a steady 5ppm

I was always told to do the plates. That the spheres just trap detritus like bioballs unless you run socks.
