Ceramic or porcelain tiles

do you think I would see any adverse affects of using either ceramic or porcelain tiles to grow shrooms and zoas on in a frag tank? They are just cheaper and should be easier then using frag plugs.

I'm new to the hobby by about a year. Why don't I see more frags growing on a small piece of natural dry rock vs. tiles or plugs? Would be more natural looking to add to a tank, no?

Both ceramic and porcelain are fine as long as they havnt been painted
