Hi all!
Redoing aquascape in 90 gal. Removed most of rock and realized yellow tang was looking for a place to sleep . So I put in a ceramic pot I had and within minutes, the tang and Potter’s angel were both inside it! Today, a pair of tomato clowns, yellow tang and Potter’s are going in and out. Is this reef safe long term? Mine is from Home Depot, but same concept.
Thanks!

From what I've read, any food grade glazed ceramics should be safe for the reef. Non food grade ceramics could have materials that might leach over time.

Thanks. I thought that about food grade. I don’t know if this is food grade, but better not count on it since it was made to hold plants. They can use it until I get the new aquascape done, no need to stress them out further.

It will be interesting to see if it gets covered in coralline algae. Paul B puts bottles in his tank and sands them with coarse sand paper then applies a thin layer of concrete to the outside. This allows the coralline algae to cover the entire surface. Report back and let us know How this ceramic pot did.
