Ceramic rings

A member suggested I get ceramic rings to add to my filter for my 32 gallon bio cube, I was wondering are they worth it? I know they help with the filter process, but how? Newby btw, I have had my tank since November of last year

Gives bacteria place to set up shop. Which in turn processes ammonia, nitrates, etc to harmless levels.

I use matrix, same concept. It has micro pores to increase surface area for good bacteria to grow. More good bacteria means it can handle more ammonia and nitrites.
