I have been using ceramic frag stations for a while now and love them. I was thinking about getting some magnetic shelves. Would love to see some pics of shelves or aquascapes using ceramics instead of rocks

Great post. I've seen so many awesome structures posted by the Alternative Reef but I haven't seen any members with one in their tanks yet!

I've got a 2 piece pillar coming in the next week or so and I'll be sure to update my post here with some pics!

Here's a pic of the pillar before the texturing was done:

Looking forward to seeing some of these scapes. I am thinking my next tank to go this route and maybe just a few rocks!!

That looks ridiculous, got a samurai feel to it for some reason.

That's a beautiful piece LuvMyAcans! What are you planning on putting on there?

I'm planning on keeping SPS up top with some acans, favias and a few select zoas/palys down towards the bottom. I may sneak a couple chalices in there as well!

Scott is also working on two smaller structures (around 8" x 8" x 4" tall) for me that will be much shorter and flatter to keep my acans and favias on so they're not sitting directly in the sandbed. I haven't seen these ones yet but I'm sure he'll come up with something sweet!

that is an awesome piece of rock . Question what is the life span of these rocks do they last just as long as any other rock ?

The natural ceramic that Scott is using isn't supposed to leach anything into the water column, so they should be fine for the life of the tank.

Yes, I ordered the pillar and two smaller pieces for the sandbed from Scott and The Alternative Reef.

Here are a couple pics of the finished pillar, should have it in the next week or so.
