Okay maybe this is a bit strange, but I am being told that cerith snails eat cyano bacteria. Is this true?

I have a small cyano outbreak and I need to deal with it. I know why it's happening so it will be easy to resolve but I figured having some ceriths in there as a preventative measure might not be a bad idea. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Let me know if that turns out to be true— I’ll buy up the available world’s supply, plus Snail Stock $ on the exchange. :)

LMAOOOO man I hope so.

Banded Trochus snails allegedly eat it. I am fighting a cyano outbreak right now. I added 3 snails to my 15g nano yesterday and there are a few "dents" in the outbreak today. fingers crossed

I read on reefcleaner.org that the dwarf eats it... however, adding 25 appears to have nothing done - this is probably due to the fact that they're so tiny haha.

Maybe I just needed more? Who knows.

I saw my banded trochus eating some. But not with great enthusiasm. It appears she doesn't want to eat the thick bits but will eat the 'new' stuff.

I have a pico tank with pico holding tanks. I have one adult trochus and 3 babies. The babies can't do much, but the adult is a mowing machine. So I move her from tank to tank. The only time I've had cyano was when I stopped rotating her. ( I thought the babies could handle the small containers. Um, no.) When I saw that she wasn't going to mow the thick parts of the cyano, I got my turkey baster out and also rinsed the sand. After about a week she had eaten what I couldn't get out. I went back to rotating her and I haven't had anymore cyano. Whether this is actual cause and effect, I don't know for sure. But I do love my trochus!
