Seriously..I'm like even afraid to turn off a pump to feed before I leave on a trip...Just been there for too many "oops!" moments!

That's me man, accept the day before i leave something that has ran or performed flawlessly for ages will require some quirky fix leaving me to worry yet again while I am gone.

Knock on wood nothing bad has ever happened to my saltwater tanks, but it seems like my pleco tanks always have something that happens while im gone like one of my L cats breed and im not there to remove them or one of them throws a fit and caves/rockwork gets knocked over and someone gets hurt. Seems like a party in those tanks when I leave lol.

So true! Thing is, once you have had a minor or major disaster the bliss is gone your forever paranoid. I will say my life has gotten a little easier since I got three foscams the phone app and an apex. They have afforded me a lot of peace of mind. As long as they work......

Wow didn't know you were into Plecos either lol. Most saltys don't even remember what freshwater is lol.

Don't even do a water change within two days of a trip! I'm guilty of this. Went to Yellowstone for ten days with the ATO turned off. Thank god I had a 70 gallon return chamber in my sump so the display tank was fine. I did however have a large xenia farm and 60 pounds of live rock dead and stinking.

we have a 55 gallon and my advice is don't add a bunch of fish at once. lost all our fish (except our clown, bill) to an ich outbreak after adding a school of three blue reef chromies :boom: qt didn't matter. the stress killed our mandarin, hector's goby, lawn mower blenny and all the chromies. our water has been perfect throughout all of this too. it just... sucked. i can say though, it was a blessing in disguise. i love our new group of fish. and we had a caulerpa problem and being able to add a foxface kind of saved our tank.

So true, I bought several fish in a span of 5 days, got lazy and did not quarantine, lossed all my fish except one. Do not buy several fishes at one time, it will only stress all the fishes in the tank and an ick breakout is most likely to happen.

I like whole "Blackwater" look... I was visiting my friend Matt Pedersen (of "Lightning Maroon Clown" fame) at the beginning of the year, and admired greatly his Altum Angels and the other col species he was breeding...addictive stuff!

RIP Vegas. She was lost in the accident with contaminated water. I was heartbroken.

I later picked up a green phantom pleco but the name was well-earned. I never got to see him out, so I took him to the LFS in exchange for some fish food.

I also have a small candystripe pleco that I've never managed to photograph. He was the size of my pinky nail when I got him and is now pushing 2" or so. Nice and fat.

I also have panda cories and a peppered cory, rummynose tetras and longfin serpae tetras.

I just left my tank today for a week and a half, your not helping my worries!!!!! I made sure to check everything before leaving, heater, skimmer, light schedule and all so my fingers are crossed!! Last time I left I lost my colony of pink birdsnest to STN. This time I have my tank sitter feeding the fish every other day and she is going to send me a video of the tank so I can make sure nothing is out of wack. I had a mini milliepora colony fall onto my chalice section one night..... Didn't end well for the millie, I no longer keep my frag rack above the chalices lol.

We remember what fresh water is, we add salt and make it excellent.
