No no I'm just building a stand not tearing down my basement water proofing it and filling it with saltwater and going scuba diving in it like some people. Lol that right there is motivating.

Ha ha ha :::laughs like a mad Scientist with a plan to take over the world::: the doors are on! And level!!
Yes I know I have poly the stand yet but I had nothing to do today, and was restless.

Ive always wanted a tank that i can snorkel in haha... and stand is look good

Well I promise this when its complete ur more than welcome to lol. And if its not big enough I have pool lol and no it's not saltwater.... I think that would make my wife commit me lol.

I had considered the pool idea before :D

Ok nothing happen today was going to slap on the poly but open the can (was old) and had rust all along the lid and discolored it. So I tossed it drove to lowes, bought another 100$ in plumbing and 4 more 1x3 and drove all the way home look at my stand and cursed out loud! I'm second guessing my closed loop system and drilling more holes ill just wing it I guess lol.

Yeah ive been doing that with thinking about using a custom sump/ refuge or one i have already been using on my 29g :(

Have you thought about using a alternative to a closed loop system?

Build it yourself. I have faith in us. And I'm doing both closed and open system. Yes I know 2 pumps.

Ok this is what I'm still on the fence about. If I should drill or not to drill and where. I'm not worried about drilling done it enough to be Comfortable. It's just placement and intake and output for the closed loop system. I want to try to use the 2 over flow boxes for the sump. Right overflow for Refugium and 1 return and left overflow for sump. And 2nd return.

Running 2 different pumps and systems might be a bit of a challenge as one might work faster which would cause the other to over flow. The easyest way is one sump/ refuge that was you dont have to worry about trying to keep them balanced. And if your worried about flow through the refuge then there are many ways to control this on a inline set up. One you can make one big sump and drop in a separate tank that will be your refuge and you can controle the flow through it and the high flow of the sump will simply just go around that tank. Or you can do like a race channel on one side and that can be your bi pass for the refuge. Im thinking about doing the second on mine. Still in the thinking and designing plan as of right now. But i know i want a higher flow sump but the refuge needs a lower flow rate to be efficient.

You almost understood what I meant I just re read what I wrote and noticed I didn't give much detail. The closed loop system will but just that a independent system strictly for flow in the tank. Hints why I'm planning on drilling and trying to figure out placement.
The 2nd pump will be strictly for return from the sump and Refugium. My Refugium will be separate from my sump.
I'm just trying to figure best placement of return line for my closed loop system for maximum flow and. Just keep in mind I have 2 return lines that ill come from the top of the overflow and spill out of a t on each side.

I under stand u need one for the closed loop and i thought u ment your sump and refuge with be separate.

Yes you are right. They will be separate the Refugium will have a 1" drain on the to top and will gravity feed into the return chamber. I still have to build the sump.
Rough drawing what I'm thinking.

The Old sump ill use as Refugium. If you look and see the built in shelf I'm thinking about cutting a pice of acrylic and drilling holes in it and putting red mangroves. Cool ideal I think I

Oh i get it now... both return pumps will be in the sump and the refuge will have a over flow and will drain into the sump so if a power outage you wont have a flood. If thats a good plan just you need to make sure the sump is big enough to hold the over flow water in a power outage or if u shut down for maintenance

Yep and trust me I'm planning on the sump being around 75+ gallons. I'm thinking 48x25x16
