Chaeto and activated charcoal

I am thinking about running activated charcoal to reduce allellopathy as much as I can, especially in the future as I add more coral. I have chaeto in my sump and I want to grow a good amount of it so I have a large population of pods, Asterinas, and the like. My question is will the charcoal actually help remove allellopathical chemicals or will it take nitrates from the chaeto?

It will for sure not take any nitrates but it can take some trace elements needed for a good growth of Chaeto - IMO.
