So I’ve been growing chaeto and copepod cultures for about a year but I think I found a good light timing for fast growth. If someone tries this let me know after a couple of weeks - 11:15-18:00 light schedule… mines growing insane now.

Looks good, mine always grow great for 2 -4 weeks then dies off since the water is clean.

Reverse cycle is always a good idea, what light are you using?

Just this simple led. The chaeto I have under sunlight grows slower then this one

It's more about water chemistry then the acutal light and light timing . Every tank is different some can grow with ease and some struggle

I run mine for 18 hours a day on a reverse schedule (trying to get my nitrates down a little, I tune the photoperiod to nutrient levels). I throw away half a grocery bag full once a week (and I just have a three gallon refugium). Each week when I harvest it, it comes out like a brick, just super dense (I could probably harvest twice a week). I’ve found that dosing some chaetgro every 3 days or so is essential for sustained high levels of growth.

Might try this on my 5 gallon setup

My chaeto took off when I added a tunze underwater fuge light (love this thing) and put flow through the chaeto with a tiny sicce. I run 12 hours opposite schedule of tank, chaetogrow by brightwell 1x a week and also harvesting weekly.

do any of you measure pH at all? Do any of you notice a pH drop on the night or next few nights after you harvest?
