How long will chaeto live in a 5g bucket as I am dosing my tank with Vibrant and want to save as much as my chaeto as I can.
The reason for the vibrant is the amount of Sea Lettuce(Ulva) I have as I pick it and it comes back stronger each time no matter what I do.
A tang is out of the question because this is a just 80 gallon tank plus I have no quarantine tank because I no longer buy fish.

you should be able to keep it in a bucket for a long time as long as you have low flow, nutrient, lighting and temperature.

I'm going to agree, it should be fine, just don't let water quality drift outside of what it can survive.

Vibrant can be pretty effective but I'd be surprised if you can ever kill off 100% of the Ulva (or whatever other algae that might pop up) without it coming back at some point - what about adding one or more herbivorous inverts like urchins? Or herbivorous fish smaller than tangs, like foxface?

No more fish and not an lfs close to me that I would trust. Ordering a urchin and paying 50$ shipping is a no go.
