I am interested in keeping chaeto in my tank (no sump). I have searched and see that some people have done it. A common method was purchasing one of those plastic shower soap holders with suction cups, and keeping the algae on that. Can anyone add their experiences with this? I do have dragons breath (halymenia) in my display already. should I just forget about the chaeto, if the halymenia does the same thing?

Chaeto in the display isn't very attractive, have you thought of an algae reactor.
I agree with this. With all the work put into making the DT look nice, I can't imagine a visibly appealing way to incorporate a contained ball of algae. At least running a pump off the back or maybe side of the tank doesn't take away from the view nearly as much.

I put a ball of cheato in my DT when I first set it up while I waited for my fuge light and I regret it. I'm still picking pieces out of the rocks and especially my vortechs (I don't know how it keeps ending up there)

It's not as bad as callerpra since it doesn't root in but it is annoying to deal with

I have seen people make a cage for it out of egg crate. But I wouldn't do it unless it can be totally hidden behind a rock.

Is the dragon's breadth growing? Why do you want both?
