Chaeto Might being dying. Please help!!

My Chaeto just falls into a million tiny little pieces if I shake it. There is not much flow in my fuge which I don’t want it to die. If I put a power head in the fuge, it just shreds it even more. What do I do? And why is it breaking off so much?

I have almost no flow in my fuge, may 1x turn, but is separate from my sump.
How old is the system it’s mopping up nutrients for?
Is their trace iron in the water?
