Chaeto refugium

I recently upgraded to a 90 gallon tank with a 25 gallon sump, the tank has been cycled and I added fish and corals a few weeks ago.
When do I know when to start my refugium?

I added my chaeto as soon as I had water in the tank. It didn’t grow much for the first month, but it didn’t die either. It then started to take off after a month.

this is about what I did. I waited two weeks for my cycle to complete then plopped in my chaeto

What others have said, not much growth until some nutrients in the water.
Get a strong light for the chaeto.
