Hi friends,
Yesterday I did notice that my chaeto into the sump are turning white. This never grow too much, but 2 days ago was fine.
I have started dosing alkalinity 1 week ago, can be that the issue?
My parameters :
Ammonia 0 (red sea)
Nitrites 0 (red sea)
Nitrates 0 (red sea)
Phosphate 0.03 ( hanna checker )
Calcium 440 (hanna checker )
Alkalinity 9 (red sea ) (was 7 a week ago and dose red sea part b slowly to bring up to 9 )
Any idea ?

cant tell from the pic, do you have flow going through the chato?

Chaeto and caulerpa will die off when not enough nutrients are in the water. It is a last ditch response and the algae goes into a spore phase so the algae can disperse and find suitable higher nutrient environment. You could try some iron dosing to increase growth. But I would get a test kit first so you can resume it.
