Anyone experienced removing a 5Gallon bucket of Chaeto densely packed dropping their Alk 3dkh and ph from 8.1-8.3 to 7.57?

Sump is 175 Gallons. Main display is 525 Gallon

Never seen a swing THAT hard from chaeto but it seems possible. Chaeto would uptake a bunch of CO2 (which is acidic). Removing a 5 gallon bucket of something that was uptaking acid could certainly drop the pH of the tank simply by leaving the CO2 in the water. While the swing seems huge -so does a 5 gallon container of algae.
