Chaetomorpha Aquarium

I have limited growth on my chaeto but it’s not tumbling I like the idea of the power head. Have you had better growth with the power head tumbling it?

I've had way better growth with tumbling it. I never have dead spots anymore, and it stays super tight and compact instead of stringy and loose. It's been such an improvement, that I've added a powerhead to all my free floating macro algae tanks.

Awesome thank you I’ll give it a shot

Picture of the light used. Tried various fancy lights, but it's hard to beat the growth from a $20 hardware store clamp light. 20190223_190136.jpg

What sort of tanks are those?

I'm pretty sure they are North American Aquatics tanks. A company that is no longer in business. I pulled them out of a couple Petsmarts during a remodel about 5 years ago. Tanks are around 20+ years old.

do you worry about chaeto pieces getting chopped up by the impellar and then floating out?

No, the biggest problem is that it plugs up the grating on the powerhead from time to time and I have to clean it off.
