So I've had Chaetomorpha in my sump for a year with some miracle mud, so far the Chaetomorpha has thrived and has completely filled the chamber in the sump.

Two newbie questions from me:

1. By keeping the Chaetomorpha filled to capacity am I losing out on its beneficial cleaning properties? Meaning should I dump half of it so it can regrow?
2. Manufacturer of miracle mud says to replace half yearly, is it terrible if I don't? That stuff is expensive.

Here is a picture:

I think i read some where that you do need to change it often bc if you dont and you stir it up a lot of bad things get released into the water. ( i could be wrong and if i am some on correct me) but i think you have to..

As far as cheato goes i let it grow till i have to trim it. cheato in small amounts doesnt really do anything but grow pods.

Thanks for the reply. The thing is the mud never gets stirred up as the Chaetomorpha won't even let light get down there.
