I bought a chalice Frag today that I wish to grow on the bottom glass of my BB tank. It came on a plug and I went to break the bottom off the plug and broke the chalice completely off the plug entirely. Do I need to put this back on the plug? Or could I glue it straight to the bottom? Thanks

I wouldn't glue it for two reasons: you may want to move it later as it grows out, other corals grow too close, you think it would look better somewhere else, it needs different light and flow, etc., and, secondly, assuming it's bottom is relatively even and it is stable, you may not need to move it unless you have some organisms in tank which might push it around. Of course, you can always buy some cheap glue and put it back on a plug now or in the future depending.

Id use a tile type plug to solve those problems

I glued mine to a rock in the vertical position near the bottom.
Its grown to softball size.
I have some corals glued on plugs to the bottom and some have been directly glued.
Not the best pic but here is mine.

I had a chalice break off a drag plug on me today. Left pic is the bottom with what’s left on the frag plug and right pic is the top part of the chalice that came off. I’ve heard they can grow from just one small piece. I’m super worried mine is going to die. Any info would be great.

if you take the broken pieces and glue them close together they should grow back together.

You mean the flesh came off the skeleton? I had one do that and it currently looks like a ball where the underside grew together. It should be fine.

Yes I believe the flesh came off the skeleton. Will both pieces live, or should I maybe glue it back on like the other poster suggested. It wasn’t super cheap so I was crushed with it came off.

I’ll post some pics under white light in a few minutes when I get home. I appreciate all ur help it was a beautiful specimen.

Don't try gluing it back on. When it's just the flesh it doesn't hold well. I put my piece in a plastic dixie cup so it wouldn't float around. Put both pieces in low light/ low flow, should heal up.
