So recently I've attempted to get into chalices, both times they melted overnight and we're just a total ghost white skeleton within 12 hours of being put in the tank. I believed that the first one was under too strong of light, but the second one I had in a completely shaded area and still the same thing happened. Those of you with chalices where do you keep them and what do they seem to prefer? I'm finding some websites saying low light, low flow, and others saying medium to high light.

I'm going to try one more time in my other tank which is a 57g and see what happens there. I had these chalices in my 12g frag tank. If water quality seems to be an issue I will end up ultimately breaking down the frag tank to euro brace for the slight bow in the acrylic and drill it to run it on my 57g system

I keep mine in med-low light and lower flow areas. They did great in my tank till I dropped my nutrients level and a few started receding. I'm trying target feeding once a week as well as dosing Amino acids and general coral foods once a week but still don't see any improvement.

what are tank parameters ? how old is the tank ? filtration , lighting the works . for all we know you are putting this in a barrel lol. Its hard to say without some info . Good luck

I do low light I heard they don't do well plus 200 par also I'm not sure what chalices u had there are some that die when u frag them and wild for me I can't keep water melons but my other do really well

It's a 12g frag tank, 6lbs of LR and a cadlights skimmer for 20ish gallons. I do weekly 2g water changes and don't feed but a couple mysis to one acan mini colony once a week or so. It's been setup for 6 or so months. The lights are a Chinese black box, lenses removed to reduce par, and they're set all the way down on intensity. I haven't tested the water recently. I am looking into getting the deep blue 30g frag tank and running it on the same sump as my 57g for water stability and keeping this 12g for taking to a frag swap or whatever the case may be
