what do you guys consider a colony is with chalices? I haven't seen too many big high end chalices in a while... I know in my small 28g, a colony is like a 2-3" x 2-3" around... hopefully in the next year or so, I can have that accomplished with the higher end ones I collect today... :)

anyway, pls share a photo or two or your colonies... :)

my one and only... until we fragged her for first time... learned a very expensive lesson... :(

Original ME... was ~2-2.5" x 2-2.5" around...

Marv did you lose part of it after fragging it?

I would say that 3" across is a small colony, 4 med, and 5" large.

that's a good one on the sizes... it's very seldom we see 5"+ high end chalice... that would be amazing to have on a big tank.... someday!!! ;)

we lost 4-5 frags of the Orig ME... all had eyes on them... I thought they were good but I guess it was a big big mistake to put them in med flow after fragging... this is the first time I've had a chalice fragged.... :( :( :(

I have a couple Xtra Large Colony's that I personally LOVE, they are just not considered one of the LE/High end I guess .

My BB hybrid WM is at least 2" across now so its getting there ;)

yeah man.. I really like that BB Hybrid WM of yours... keep up the good job on it... :)

WWC has some very nice large chalice colonies. I went down there last December. Their mother BGM colony was awsome in person.

Cut my BGM a couple of weeks ago, and thankfully all frags have made it, even after a long drive back from Orlando. Actually took it up to WWC for frag school with Victor. Still have over 14 eyes on the main colony, time to frag again? Several new eyes since cutting.

I have found the high end chalices to be very touchy in my tank. I am very hesitant to buy anymore also for the fact that the big colonies are hard to find this telling they are extremly hard to grow out. The only one I have been seeing some real growth on is the bubble gum monster.

Here is my Tyree Pink Watermelon back in 2007 about 6 months old. Frag came from Mike at thecaptivereef.com.

Here is a recent PIC after some fragging. The longest side is at least 4 in.
