I was looking at my chalice coral earlier it was big and puffy which i assumed was it being healthy but i was looking again now and it had the mouth wide open with a purple looking slime stuff coming out. Some has even come of and gone on the zoas. Is this a death sign as this coral was sort of struggling before but was growing lots now. Or is it a defense. Thanks in advance for advice/knowledge

Mine occasionally do that I think its pretty normal. Looks a bit sunken but they can be hit or miss at that size some days happy some days not. I find mine like to get a direct feeding Every now and then and look better and grow faster when I do.

Is this a new addition? Are your parameters all in check? It’s expelling zooxanthellae. If it’s new it’s acclimating itself to your lighting, if you’ve had it in the tank for awhile it’s just pooping.
