This looks like an echinata rather than chalice (not sure if you knew that already). Mine like relatively strong lighting and low flow. Hard to tell where this is in your tank but flow would be my first parameter I would guess could cause recession. Water parameters you shared look great.

Echinatas are a little harder than chalices as their growth rates are much much slower. Not sure if this is the standard but my echinatas prefer to be on the bottom half of the tank with mild flow. They do need some flow because they don’t like having detritus on their tissue. I still haven’t figured them out and I’ve owned 3 for over a year. The growth has been unnoticeable so far.

do you direct feed yours? I supply LFS pellets and feed once per week. It grows about 1/2 inch every 3 months. It is already 4.5 inches large though. I do believe a larger echinata or chalice grows faster than a smaller frag.

Echinatas are one of the most beautiful corals I can think of.

I do. Out of the 3 echinatas I have, they grow substantially slower than chalices. I’ll be honest though, I tend to neglect them. They get moved all the time when I want to put a coral in its spot.
