A week and a half ago, there was a black dot on the other side, now it has tightened. Can there be no other reasons?If it is only losing color in that one spot I am going to assume irritation/stinging from a nearby coral.

Lighting and nutrients can impact coloration but usually that will be seen across larger swaths of the colony.
It is possible that the Palys are either touching it or otherwise irritating it.No one stinging coral I keep near that chalice..Palythoa can do it?
