I have an idea that my chemistry is at least part of the issue, but what else would be causing my chalice to bleach?

Alk: 195 ppm. (Hanna)
Phos. .28 ppm (coming down after recent maintenance) (Hanna)
Nitrate 15-20 (api)
Salinity: 1.027

i would retest all of those again just to rule out testing error. also, what is your temp at? cal? mag? is the chalice too close to the light?

I can retest this evening when I get home. My temp is about 77, will confirm later. The problem started when I moved it from the sand bed to a rock further away. I moved it closer but that didn't help. The pollips have turned to face the light though, instead of being in line with the rest of the plate. Calc usually runs around 420 on my api test but will make sure tonight. I don't have a mag test kit.
Alkalinity might be a tad high at 10.9. As @shakacuz suggests, look at your calcium and magnesium levels as well. A PAR reading on your lights might also be revealing.
I run coral pro, so out of the bucket alk is high. I might get more coral to soak it up faster, but that is down the road and if I'm asking "why is my coral dying" maybe I should figure out what is wrong before I add more to a potential problem. I do need to bite the bullet and get a par reading for the tank too.

My concern is that the chalice was gravy in the sand bed, now it's going down.

could we get pictures under white light? might have been the change in light intensity or high ALK that caused it to STN.

The retest:
Temp: 75
Salinity: 1.025
Nitrate: 15-20 (api)
Phos: .19 Hanna
Alk: 217, 213 (Hanna with fresher reagent)
Calc: 500 api
Mag: no results available

And per request, a picture under whites.
