I have a forty breeder with a 20 gallon sump and my chalices are starting to show their white skeleton not only my new ones but ones that have been in the tank for over a year. Cal is 500, ph is 8, mag is 1500, I don't have a alk test kit so could an alk Spike do this to my favia and chalices. Thanks

have you done a big water change? I would try that and see if that helps keep the damage down

Any kind of spike can do it, and certainly alk would be a possibility, however, your ca and mag are above normal saltwater . So rather than an alk spike , you may be low on alkalinity. Might consider getting alk test to figure out where you are. Cheaper than replacing chalices and much less frustrating than watching chalices getting unhappy. But you also need to know what nitrates and phosphates are at and salinity as well. Since you have been keeping these chalices for a good while, everything I mentioned you probably are well aware of.
