I got this frag about 3 weeks ago. I did not have very nice color at that time. It has really colored up nicely ( at least i think so ). Does anyone know what the name of it is? If it has one.

Where did you get it? That may help to narrow it down. Agree with above, you may want to drop it down to the sand bed for a while. You may have it low in the tank though - hard to tell from the pic.

Upon first glance, it looks a bit like an Aspera chalice but need a bit more info. What else can you tell us?

Definitely not bleaching out. It had very little color when i got it. It has colored up to this in 3 weeks. Seems to get more color everyday.

I got it from a local guy in Richmond, Va.. He gets his stuff from a guy in California. I have it in my 265 about about 24" from the top of the water line, and the lights are another 8" above that. So approx 30 to 32" from lights. All the Chalices on the rack are doing great and very colorful. I dont know anything else about the Chalice in question.

Most of my chalices, once acclimated to the light, are raised up closer to the light and doing great. Really coloring up and growing fast. Only one of them had to be lowered back to the sand when I saw a little color fading. I'm sure yours has a lot of coloring up to do.

Oh...gotcha...I know exactly who you got that from in Richmond (as I live here too - lol). Not sure if he would know the name or not. I would say give it another month or so and post another pic - will likely be able to tell then if it's a named piece. There are so many wild pieces coming in these days, it's hard to keep them all straight. I'm guessing if you got if from B.R., it is not a named piece, but a wild one. Doesn't mean it won't color up to be a beauty thought...: )

Thanks for the info. Are you a member of RRC. I dont reconize the screen name. You are right about where i got it.

I am but not on that thread much anymore. I call this my home now...lol. Have not made it to any "swaps" yet but hope to in the near future. Keep us posted on the chalice.
