"What did you buy it as?"
i bought it just as a chalise with no name to it, was thinkin it was one no one has seen before...lol!

"looks a little like a superman to me"
a superman chalise...?

it does look similar, but it is not a light blue but a really deep blue

what do they go for....the superman chalise?

Its not a superman. Its just a no name chalice. Its nice and does resemble a superman but its not a lineaged piece and should not be labeled as such. These morphs are very common and everyone that gets a piece that looks simillar goes around calling it a superman and trying to capitolize on the name. Don't take it the wrong way, I am not saying thats what you intended on doing but calling it a superman is just wrong. I would say its a superman lookalike. Otherwise when people do this sort of thing it gets passed along and some poor guy who thinks he is getting a superman gets beat.
Nice piece, but if it was a superman you would have been told it was at the time of sale.

what is "lineaged"

it basically means that it can be traced back through all the reefers/collectors/growers who have kept it and grown it, and for LE pieces (limited edition), a buyer usually asks for some type of lineage so he or she can know that it is certainly a legit piece and should demand the high price tag that most LE pieces demand. (i.e. a Tyree piece, a Jason Fox piece, etc...there are many many more, those are just two very well known names)

when names get thrown around so much, like nicks387 stated, it sometimes puts an insanely high price on a piece that otherwise would go for normal prices. some buyers will jump on anything with color and a name attached to it, even if it only looks remotely similar to a true lineaged piece of the same name.

in your case, it does definitely RESEMBLE a superman, but it does not have all the qualities of it. and for the collector that wants to KNOW he or she has true rare and LE pieces in his or her tank, a little proof always helps. unfortunately there are a lot of sellers these days that will slap a name on something and straight BANK off the novice or inexperienced collectors that just want anything that has a name on it.

and again, we are not saying you purchased this piece to turn around and sell it as a named LE piece, nor did we say that you bought it as such either. but as you stay in this hobby for a little while, you'll start to see the craziness that comes along with a name. in some cases its just that; a name.

thats my two hundredths of a dollar. hope i was of some help

p.s. by NO means do i even consider myself close to being an expert in the field of reefkeeping and coral collecting, especially compared to some of the members here who have extensive knowledge. i have been doing this for some time now though, and at least have a little experience. its always good to ask questions by the way. thats the only way i ever learned anything.
