chalice, loss of color?

Ok, I'm at a loss here so maybe you guys and gals can help me out. I understand the basics of coral bleaching, stress and loss of color and zooxanthellae. Which happens when exposed to too much light, constant high or low temps and other stressfull factors. What I want to understand is what makes a bright chalice darken up and turn dark? What process is behind this? If anyone has a link of an article or some info, I would appreciate it. Curious ever since I've seen it happen to a couple of my pieces after fragging. Thanks, Frank.

Don't know why... I posted a thread long ago on the subject mag and it's role in chalice health and got a few responses but no answer... Anthony calfo was on the board at the time I was hoping to pick his mind but never got a answer..

Anthony Calfo was great when he was around the boards. Never met anyone as helpful and informative as him since I've been here. It's definitely not magnesium Lee, my numbers are pretty spot on. This only happened to one of my pieces after fragging. Once it happened to the same piece (species) after being stressed from shipping from the west coast. Maybe it only happens to this specific one, because I haven't seen it with any others.

only one that ever got dark on me was the ft. This happened on two different occasions and only to this chalice, so that's why I was so curious.

My friends did the same. I ended up buying it as is I hope it recovers. I think it has to do with the species.

Mine (FT) darkened after fragging and unfortunately did not make it. I had fragged it twice before with no issues. Cut the 3rd time and the exact same thing happened. No other chalices were affected and I've never had an issue with other chalices (of mine) doing this. Could just be one of those crazy things that happens with this piece. And, of course, it happened to one of my fav's - go figure right? lol

I have seen 2 BPC morph pretty bad after fragging!

yeah, happened to me twice but only with this species. good to hear I wasn't the only one that experienced it.
