Hi. I have a great big Hollywood stunner that's been in the tank for three or four years. Yesterday it started losing tissue. Here's yesterday:
Now, about 24 hours later, about half is gone. Here's now:
Is this stoppable? If not, would there be any point in fragging what's left?
Here's a closeup of the brown stuff. It's wavy in the current. Looks like brown algae or maybe it's rotting tissue:
The back story, if you want to hear it, is that the tank has been running pretty well for a long time without much intervention. I had got a little lazy with the husbandry due to work and family obligations but things seemed OK for a long time, until a big birdsnest bleached out. So I checked the levels and some things weren't where they needed to be, so I made adjustments and added what I needed to over a week or two and levels were looking good. Then I lost a wrasse, a huge leather started to die, and this big old Kenya tree died (good riddance Kenya tree) and some of the softies and some of the LPS started to look pretty bad. So this past weekend I did a 25% water change. And yesterday my chalice started to go to pot.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I feel like I'm always asking for help but never contributing. I need to change that.
