Chalice Regrowth and Reincorporation??

Just wondering if anyone has observed a chalice reincorporating pieces of itself back together to form one colony after it has receded back into little spots?

I have a couple frags where small spots were left behind and it seems they are all their own colony now as they have matured. But as they grow closer together (touching in most cases) I do not observe them fusing together...anyone have any input??

I can't speak for all chalices, but an area that was cleared out by an acan rotundoflora except for the eye has fused back together as one colony on my Miami Hurricaine.

I have a goldeneye watermelon that I fragged into two separate pieces. Both healed and formed green rims. Over time they grew, touched, and have fused back together to make one original colony again.

Yea, this is very possible. I have experienced a few times and I have watched it occur many times at my LFS.

I have had chalices and an acan echinata do that before.
So, 100% possible..

I have two different chalice experiences.

The first, I accidentally split a chalice when taking it off a plug and the two frags have now grown next to each other but it does not look like they fused.

The second I tried to remove a chalice from a rock wall and it started to tear in multiple places so I left it and it has healed with "scar" atleast kind of.

The first pic is what Im experiencing too though..It seems like the rims are keeping separate colonies...for now!! I was pretty certain they would have fused together by now but it might take longer than had expected!

Not sure why some of my pics are disappearing but I though this is interesting and worth sharing.

This picture shows the two separate frags just beginning to touch.

A later picture of the two chalices growing together and yet you can see a dividing line between them and my title on the pic says it is from just last month.

Here is a picture I took this afternoon and it most definitely appears the two colonies have fused back together. Particularly if you look at the bottom-center of the two chalices. You can no longer till see a demarcation between the originally two separate frags.

All in all, I think that shows that these two frags have fused and what an amazing progression
