Well i have both the Tyree watermelon and Monster Mash sitting right next to each other under T5. Yes they are both just frags but i have not really seen anyone that has a MM colony.

MM has white lighting streak running through it and the RedWatermelon does not. MM is bright red with pinkish coloration and Red watermelon is on the more redder side. Red watermelon grows twice as fast as the MM. I aquire both piece about 6 month ago. The red watermelon has 4 eyes now and the MM still has only 1 eye but has shown some growth.

Also the red watermelon originated from snipersps and the MM original owner is chinmonster. I dont know chinmonster name just his screen name on reefcentral about 5 years ago. 5 years ago the MM was only $80 a frag and now they range from $350 to $400 a frag and still very hard piece to find. It took me a while to locate my MM. I had a piece many years ago and sold it and regret it and rebrought it. This is just what i know from my years of being a chalice addict. I could be wrong so i am just saying not stating that these are facts but could be.

DL, That WM and the Tangerine Dreams do look very similar and I would like a frag of that for sure. My guess is that the colors change a bit on the TD as it gets bigger. I didn't realize it at first, but the TD has 2 rims, a green outer one and then a blue inner rim.

He went bythe name on RC by Chinmonster/Charles.I think he is out of the hobby now.I got my frag back then also.When chalice corals just came into the scene.But running a reactor had a Alk spike,and lost it.What I remember the main colony was lost.Probably a good reason,why it's hard to find.And the price is what we see today.We only have pics of the main colony today.Being a slow grower,adds more to the price also.I remember him telling me years ago,he pay and arm and a leg for it.Yet chalice corals weren't a big hit like today.He could have made a killing on that chalice......Being he had the "only colony".It's possible it went to Fragfarmer.But that's a wild guess.It's been to long now for me to remember.

Does tangerine dreams get white striations in the green rim at all?

Not that I know of, but my frag is only 4 eyes so don't know for sure. The mc pic on WWC doesn't show any white striations from what I can see.
