Lol, that piece is such a sloooow grower. Your's looks fantastic though. We got a little booger for our growout and now it looks like it won't make it

I'm surprised it's such a slow grower, since isn't it the same species as faster growers?

I think it is the light.

I think when you use a majority of ATI Blue Plus bulbs you get this orange coloration, but im not 100%
sure.

I say this because when this colony was in a tank with only 1 ATI blue + out of 6 bulbs, it was green.

I sold a frag to another reefer who used all ATI blue plus and it turned orange.
The I moved my colony to the current tank it is in which is 2 out of 4 bulbs, ATI Blue Plus and it is BRIGHT orange.

I am not sure if this is the cause though, just an assumption.

It's a nonamer that came in to AquaSD and got sold (whole or half, can't recall) and fragged to/by a LFS in the Bay Area (Neptune's I think is the name). I got one frag from ASD before he sold it off. I'd love to know if more frags made it, since it was an absolutely stunning colony... easily an LE or whatever title you want to give it. The colony was just too pricey for me during those chalice crazy times (I think $1000 or more).

Ahah! I knew I had a MC pic saved somewhere... this was half of the original colony. Apparently Will named it the Starburst Watermelon.

I'm not sure that's the same one? It should have yellow/orange center eyes, and I don't recall any swirles. But then again, after 1.5 years, who knows what it may have morphed into at the LFS.

You sure did. Did you sell any of it? Still have it?

hahahaha will told you i bought the other half? no i cut half if it and split it with a buddy.. then my half melted away slowly.. i think it took about 4-5 months.

I saw a whole giant colony at Will's shop. He said some went to you, and some went to Neptunes. I really don't know details of his transactions

Sorry to hear it melted. It was a very nice piece. My frag almost melted away a couple times too.

yea its pretty wimpy.. if u look at it wrong itll melt so try to star at it indirectly.. =P
