i would get a carbon reactor going if you have not already, i have like 15 chalice and at 1st i did not have a mag test kit so my mag was low and didnt know it, my chalice didnt seem to care, no ill affects.
i dont know if the dust is the only issue but i would be willing to bet its at least contributing to the issue.
trust me when i say of i can keep chalice anyone can

Low mg shouldn't effect them that bad unless your in the triple digits. 900 or below
