Chalices melting away

Do you run a Calc Reactor, Doser, or use 2 part for dosing? +1 on some chalices will recede for no apparent reason I do have over 90 chalice in my 180. I also agree on having stability.

Yes. Sometimes one piece starts receding with no apparent reason. But this are2 of them and apparently the only chalices in the tank. So for me there should be a reason.

The only time I lost 2 or more chalice at the same time was like I said alk swings. This what happened to me in the past 6 yrs of growing chalice. Once was my stupidity trying to raise PH with buffer and did not test alk untill it was thru the roof. The other was when calc reactor went haywire causing an alk swing. Only giving my experience.

No, the only thing I add is to bring up the mag in my new water for the water change. No dosing for calc or alk and no reactors

Mattyice, What aquarium store do you purchase from, Aquascene/tech in PSL or fish store in Fp?

The Miami hurricane was from rob at aqua scene, I haven't gone there in months. The other was from Jon at treasure coast corals in vero. The one from Jon was doing amazing for a while getting some crazy colors before this happened

Hurricane was about a month old, the other about 6 months

So could my problem be caused by my protein skimmer? Am I making the water too clean? Only corals that look bad are chalices, my scoly, and one small acan frag has some skeleton poking out. All acros and other sps/lps doing great. My only 2 acros are growing more than ever

Ah, forgot about this thread.
Yes, I found out that my calcium test kit was bad, and my mag was also low..didnt have a kit for that.
so i, bought a red sea mag/calc test kit.

mag was 1200, calc was 340...my other test said it was 420..
So I've started dosing, but I recently got BJD on my duncan coral..and it almost died completely. my miami hurricane lost 1/2 its body, and I just did a water change. So I'm slowly bringing those levels back up, and got the injured corals in the QT
