Chalices

I picked up 2 chalices(Gold Miester, Hells Hand), a Sunset Stylo, and an ORA Spongoden from Jason Foxs online sale the other week.

The hells hand and Spongoden seem to be doing fine, while the Gold Meister and Sunset Stylo dont seem to look their placement in the tank?

I have a 90 gallon bowfront (29 inches tall) and am using an Outter Orbit 2 x 150 watt haliades (phoenix 14k) and 4 T5s (3 Blue + , 1 PowerChrome Auqa Pink)

I placed all 4 of the frags in the sand because I read on Jasons site that they all perfer low light, I noticed that the Hells hand and ORA Spongoden both seemed to hold their color, while the Sunset Stylo was a very dark color when I received it, and has still not gained any of its nice yellow back yet. Would this mean that it is not happy where it is placed in the tank? My Gold Meister seems to be getting washed out(I guess thats the right term) its not as pretty as it was when I got it, and seems to be loosing all of its spots).

What can I do to help get my corals back to the beautiful colors that they were when they were with Jason?

Each tanks parameters are going to be different. Salt, bulb ballast combo, flow, nutrient levels, oxygen levels, photo period, supplementation etc..the list goes on. As long as the corals appear healthy not talking about color but polyp extension and overall look of the coral I would let it be. Some corals take time to acclimate to new parameters and to color up. If you don't see a change in color in a month or so I would try moving it to a new location within the reef.

I noticed that the chalice is really washing out though, is that a sign of to much light? I really cant move it any farther away from the light, its already down in the sand bed. The chalice 6 inches from it looks like it is doing fine though...

Can you post some pics? That might help us be able to gauge the issue a little better.

I understand that it can take a little while for the coral to color up, but apparently I am doing something wrong for it to be washing out more and more every day.

I just moved a few things around in the sandbed and realized when I moved my pipe organ to where the chalice was sitting, that it is apparently right around the spot that the powerhead is shooting towards when it hits the bottom of the tank. Were talking only a 1050 gph power head and at a spot that is 2 ft away and the power head is pointing down from a good foot and a half, the pipe organ is blowing around a good bit from it, but could that really be enough water current from that far away to bother the chalice?

Everything checks out well. The tank is also home to different palys/zoas,acans, an alvapora and a few SPS like Montis, trumpets and a few sticks. From what ive read chalices arnt to picky about water conditions? If sticks are doing ok in the tank id assume that the water quality isnt an issue?

Do you believe the powerhead issue I noted above could possibly be a problem?

What should I feed him?

I feed the tank with PE Mysis every day, do I need to turn the powerheads off and place some directly onto the chalice? Sorry for the dumb questions, never had to feed any of my corals before
