Chalk bass ate pistol shrimp?

Hello, I just got a watchman goby and pistol shrimp pair yesterday. The goby found a hiding spot under the rock and the shrimp burrowed under a nearby turbo snail. As expected, the snail eventually moved and the shrimp went under the rock with the goby but I check in about an hour later and I see the pistol shrimp in my chalk bass's mouth. What happened? Do chalk basses usually eat pistol shrimp? I have kept the two of them together before and they were fine.

Have you ever seen a bass open its mouth? Yeah pretty wide. Sorry to say your chalk bass may have had himself a hardy meal. But keep an eye out because I know I'm wrong.
