Hello, I have a 32 gallon biocube. I stocked it relatively slowly with a fire fish 1st, chalk bass 2nd, hi fin red banded goby 3rd, and just added a springeri damsel to help me with a few flatworms ive been seeing. The chalk bass has been totally cool with his neighbors so far until I added this springeri. Nothing too severe he just chases it away at random. Kinda surprised me because everything has shown that chalk bass are supposed to be one the most peaceful fish. Anyone with more experience think this is just a territory thing and it will chill out or should I be more concerned?

I've seen a chalk bass not get a long with a royal gramma.

They do like their territory and might see the damsel as a threat.

Gonna have to keep a close eye on them.

My chalk bass killed my royal gramma and 5 Azure damsels before he jumped to his death. They are peaceful most of the time, but when they are mad they are like a bull in a china shop

Under the right circumstances, ALL fish will exhibit aggression. The ‘peaceful’ ones just do it less frequently.
