Long story short, I bought a BTA yesterday that the LFS couldn't remove from the rock, so they threw the rock in for free.

During the 20 minute ride home, I think the BTA got squished underneath the rock. I was alone and didn't have anyone to hold it during the trip. I tried to take precautions against this, but at some point things shifted within the bag. It was a decent sized rock, maybe 3 - 5 lbs.

Once I got it home and opened up the bag, the nem had released and was loose in the bag. It was badly shriveled up and there were loose shreds of flesh around the foot where it had been attached.

I put it into a crevice in the DT where it could take hold, but my clowns, 6 line, and even a banded coral shrimp started picking at the loose flesh. The clowns kept tugging it around, although it did grab ahold a little bit at one point. There were only a few tentacles extended along one side of the cap. The rest was pretty shriveled and greyish colored.

This morning it was on the bottom. There is a little color around the rim, but no tentacles are extended at all.

Sorry I don't have a pic at the moment. I'll add one when I get home. But what odds does this thing have of surviving? I had a condy come back from much worse than this, but I'm not sure if a BTA is as hardy, especially from what I assume was crush damage. Anyone had a similar experience?

BTA's are hardy but since the foot was damaged & not sure how extensively, then I'd keep an eye on it while trying to keep it isolated from others (in a plastic strainer) to help it heal. But if its already attached itself, then I wouldn't force it off at this time... sorry but that's a tough situation

Pluck him out, look for damage and then Cut him in half keeping any/the majority of the damage on one half.

This will allow at least half to survive, if not both.

When I got home, he was behind some rocks. So I pulled him out and it basically disintegrated. Rather than throw it away, I put what was left into my quarantine tank. If this thing survives it'll be a bigger comeback than the Chiefs over the Texans. But I'll give it a chance - there's nothing else in the QT tank at the moment.

There are still a couple of tentacles with some color, and it did snag onto a rock for a moment, so it's not completely dead yet.
