Have a chance to get this camera plus the stock lense - I think its a 28-105 mm - for sub $300. Camera and lense are both in pretty good condition. Is this a good camera as an intro into the hobby of aquarium photography? Price good?

Thanks!

Price is too high I'd say, It's a 10 year old camera. For that price range a used t5i is in the cards for you.

What would you say is a reasonable price? I am not to familiar with the camera market, i see newer bodies for this camera running around $150-$175, I assume lense must be worth another $100.

That stock lens can be found anywhere from 40-70 bucks on eBay. Is the body new or used? If used I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it.

Used but good condition. Any links you could find for a similar used body for a $100? Would help me in negotiating if I could provide evidence of it not being worth that much

If he's stuck on the 300 mark I wouldn't feel bad walking away. Like I said I've seen t5i body with stock lenses similarly priced.

You can get something newer at a better price. Check out CL and photography forums like fredmiranda.com.
