Hey,

I made a big beginner mistake and I need some advice! I changed salt brands too quickly with a 20% water change now most of my corals are very upset. How long does it aprox. take for them to recover/open up again? Thank you in advance

Are you sure it was the brand switch and not something else? What did you switch from and to?

Yeah brands don't matter, no matter what the internet tells you.

It's the parameter difference between brands that will upset your corals.

If you know how to "doctor" up the differnces between brands, then it doesn't matter one bit what brand you use.

A 20% change should not have altered parameters so much that it would cause any real issues in my opinion. For example even if you had 7 alk and now used 12 alk replacement that would only bring you up to 8 alk after the change and that is about as extreme as you can get.

I would doublecheck salinity as that is probably the easiest way to create a big issue doing a WC.

I ended up changing back to the old brand but figured some corals still got "shockt"

Salinity is 1.024
