Hi,I will want swapping my old tank with new tank also I haven't fish and coral in my old tank(keeping them in QT),but have a several question?
1.can I using from new sand in new tank?( live or dry).
2.I have a live rock in old tank and will want putting them in new tank, possible?
3.should I use from old water or half old water tank and new water?(mixing).
4.Changing in plumbing and sump.

i did a "half swap" i guess you could call it.
used all the same live rock. (gave everything a good once over and burned a few aiptasia)
new live sand.
small amount of existing tank water.
i only got a very small short cycle.
the tank was ready after about 2 weeks.

i would say if you have the chance to put in new sand, do it. dont bother cleaning it, its more trouble than its worth, imo
i did not have a sump in my 1st tank.

1.) Use new sand. Do not use your old sand unless you clean it very well.
2.)Yes, you can use your old rock. You can also get some new rock and create a new aquascape but using your old rock is important to "seed" the new rock.
3.) Use new water. It will not hurt.
4.) You can change anything in the plumbing as you wish.

*You may get a small cycle while changing over to your new tank. So you may want to be prepared for a slight ammonia spike.

Thanks from reefmadscientist and clee36.
So I not have any problem for this way.
Just possible Slight ammonia spike and me can use from new sand instead of old sand.
what difference between live sand and dry sand?
Because I probably using from red sea sand or aqua medic sand or caribsea.

dry sand is just that. just dry sand.
the live sand for the most part has the needed bacteria in it. i used carib sea for mine as well.
if i could go back i would have used the larger sand grain type.
