Hello everyone I have now around 300Liter reef I want to know what is the best way to swap it to around 550Liter?
I mean about the cycle time since I want to build new rocks clean and unused Af rock.
Does it possible to end with this swap in a day or I must go through complete cycle again?
And also how many kg rocks do I need for 550Liter?
Thank you :)

As long as you use the same filter system put what rock you have in . I do not see a cycle in your future!

If it is dry rock it will take some time for it to take on stuff. But I don't think it will start a cycle . Live rock will have die off on it . But you are making it so dry rock it is.

Ok I understand and how much Kilogram of rock you can advice me to use in 550Liter?
Thanks

A cycle starts because you have no bacteria. You have bacteria on and in your rock you have and on your filters . So you are golden !

What exactly are you doing? All new rocks and sand? How many fish will be in the aquarium?

Thanks for the clarification. You are carrying over a decent amount of nitrifying bacteria and probably will not have any ammonia issues. This not to say you will not have new aquarium issues, but you’ve been through that and know how to deal with those.

Sounds like a fun project. Good luck.

Appreciate your response thanks :)

I would say what rock you have is fine until you add more fish. You will need more rock to manage nitrates better.

I started my reef 20 years ago with liverock. I do buy corals that are on rock to add to my tank.

Be careful moving all the sand to not kick up too much debris. Could cause high ammonia and other issues in the tank killing inhabitants. I would recommend new sand.
You mean only about the sand or also about the rocks?
Thank you

Just the sand. Your rocks will be fine. Sand has detritus throughout it (waste). When you move the sand all that gets kicked up in both your new tank and old tank. That can lead to fish death very quickly. I'd just recommend new sand. Using the old rock is fine. Using old filter will bring bacteria over to propagate the new tank, can dose extra bacteria if it makes you more comfortable.

Do you have any suggestions about which rock to add? Because I saw some companies that sold rocks and af rocks with their purple look color is taking my attention
