i am getting ready to change from a calcium reactor to 2 part dosing. What is the best strategy to maintain my alk while I’m trying to dial in 2 part? What should I start dosing at? I have about 400 gallons between my tanks all tied to one sump. I have a mixed reef sps/lps/softies probably would consider it moderate demand.

Well,
When you dailed in your cal reactor you had to find the right melting point and so on...

When you dial in 2 part, start at a lower dose and work your way up (slowly) until you hit the correct dose.
You should be locked in within 5 to 7 days.

Stay within the manufacturers, max daily dose limits or your separate ion's could bind together causing precipitation.
At that time your parameters will drop instead of rising.

During those times of converting over, I've just used Seachem "Reef Builder alk powder" Reef Advantage Cal and Mag to bump up and maintain, until I find the right dose of the product that I'm dialing into.

You just mix those products in RO/DI and below is calculator that you can use.
See the left hand column?

Please stay away from SeaChem "Reef Buffer"
