Changing filter mesh

I plan on changing my filter media from carbon in a mesh bag to chemipure elite. Will this cause my tank to crash or will I be fine?

Well it certainly shouldn't cause your tank to crash.

Chemipure is carbon and some other mechanical filtration media in a bag. Chemipure elite just add GFO to that mix. Are you having phosphate issues?

Yes I am. I have algae like crazy so im trying to get everything under control. Im doing water changes, revitalizing my clean up crew, and im gonna try this.

The only possible issue you will have is, if you have left your carbon in for a very long period of time and it has become your main biological filter.

I take it out to wash the filter bag and change the carbon out every 2-3 weeks

Do you know what your nutrient levels are? The cleanup crew and water changes are going to do a lot more for you than the chemipure will in the long run. It might help you get ahead of it for a short while though. Chemipure is pretty expensive though. You could always try bulk GFO and carbon in a bag.

Yes. I can check as soon as i get home from school. Its one of my maintainence days for this week.
