So I bought a Jebao Dosing pump last year and it was working well. I took it off due to a algae bloom and everything went all wack so I went back to manual dosing. Prior to this week I manually dosed 12 ml of alk a day everyday around morning time (7am,-8am) to keep a constant alk at 8.5. I then set up my dosing pump on friday to dose 12 ml through the day every other hour. My alk level rose to 9.2 dkh. Now I tested the flow to make sure when I say dose 1 ml its dosing exactly 1 ml, and it is exactly. I just cant figure out why all of a sudden it jumped up to 9.2. Any ideas?

Did you calibrate the doser?

Also, are you testing calcium? Sometimes when alk and ca are consumed, alk will rise if calcium isn't supplemented.

Dosing smoothly throughout the day as opposed to once a day appears to often lead to less demand, likely because the alk and pH do not rise to the same peak after more smaller dosing events compared to one big one, and both abiotic precipitation and and biological demand rise as pH and alk rise.

I think this is what is hitting it on the head. I tested last night and it was up to 9.2 dkh and tonight it's up to 9.5 after reducing the dosing to 10 ml a day. How can I get this back on track if I want to use my dosing pump? @Randy Holmes-Farley

Turn down the volume they deliver.

They may also not deliver the specified amounts.
