Hello,

I have a Biocube 29 gallon that is almost 1 year old. When I was first shopping for live rock and "live" sand I pretty much went with the recommendations of my LFS. The live rock is fine, but the sand is fine grained and now that I've increased the flow in my tank it is blowing around some and aggrivating me :(

So is removing my old sand and replacing with a larger gain sand going to cause a tank crash?

No. You can actually add the new sand to it. But I'm a DSB guy.
Make sure it's live. I have used cake frosting bags or just cut the corner. Of the sand bag.

My method. Remove and save tank water. Remove rock coral into saved tank water. Remove all but a little water. Add or remove sand. Siphon off Nast stuff now on top of water. Add old tank water add corals top with new salt water. Wet skim add prime. Add floss
5g Water change next day.

That's in the nutshell

I put 10 lbs of sand down each leg of pantyhose and rinsed it. I then placed one leg in the tank and slit the bottom with a knife so it would come out. Worked pretty well if you don't mind the funny look the cashier is going to give you when you're buying pantyhose.
