Hello, Please correct me if I'm wrong. I read on some forums before that when you do water change some of the parameters such as cal, mag and alk are being depleted. Is that true? I really thought that when you do water change the new water will replace the lost alk, cal and mag. TIA!

I think it can go both ways. If mag, alk, and cal are higher than the fresh mix then of course they will be brought down. The same thing if the current parameters are lower than the fresh mix, then the parameters will rise. Depends on the percentage of the water you are changing as well. At the end the purpose of water changes are to replace depleted elements and removing things such as nitrate and phosphate.

The idea is to use a salt mix that mixes up as close to your current parameters as possible (Ca, ALK, Mg).....therefore there won't be any changes to your water chemistry, other than lowering undesirables and increasing trace elements.
