So I just picked up a skimz leopard pump on that crazy brs sale! My current return pump is a eheim and runs a little hot. The skimz is a more powerful pump but runs at about 65 watts which is about 20 watts less than the eheim. Being that it's more powerful, I can run both my return and my turf scrubber off of the one pump instead of two like I have now. I will be going on a 2 week vacation to Europe in about 6 weeks and I'm wondering if it would be wise to swap pumps out now, or should I wait until I get back. Is 6 weeks enough time for me to run it and be comfortable with going on vacation? How far in advance to change a major component like a return pump is a reasonable timeframe in everyone's opinion?

Yeah, six weeks is fine. My rule of thumb is no major changes within 2 weeks of being away.

That's what I'm thinking. I should be able to get it dialed in fairly quickly being that it's an a/c pump like the eheim. No separate controllers to learn, just plug and play.
